Larry Hoffheimer- Chairman Macular Degeneration Association
Mr. Hoffheimer practiced healthcare law in Washington, DC for 35 years. Prior to that, he served   as a federal prosecutor with the United States Department of Justice. During the course of his law career, he represented numerous voluntary health agencies and healthcare professionals. Mr. Hoffheimer formed and led the advocacy effort that resulted in the Congressional Resolution and Presidential Proclamation declaring the 1990s as the Decade of the Brain. He founded the National Foundation for Brain Research, which provided enhanced visibility for neurological disorders. In 2003, Mr. Hoffheimer formed the Macular Degeneration Association (MDA) and moved to Sarasota, Florida where he currently chairs the MDA, including the comprehensive MDA educational initiatives.

Hugo M. Linares, D.O.

Hugo M. Linares, D.O., graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey with a bachelor of science in biological sciences. He received his medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Linares completed his internship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey. He performed his residency in ophthalmology at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where he was chief resident in his final year.

Tricia Stefankiewicz, MA, RD CNSC LDN

Tricia Stefankiewicz is a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She also received certification as a Clinical Nutrition Support Clinician specializing in the unique nutritional needs of the inpatient cardiology, cardiac surgery, and urology populations. Ms. Stefankiewicz has a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from West Chester University and a Master’s Degree in Nutrition Education from Immaculata University. In addition to working in an intensive care inpatient setting, she teaches weight maintenance classes at the Albert J. Stunkard Weight Management Program of Penn Medicine.

Janet DeBerry Steinberg, OD, FAAO

Dr. Steinberg has been in the field of low vision rehabilitation for over 20 years. She specializes in helping visually impaired patients achieve goals in performing tasks of daily living. After a thorough evaluation, Dr. Steinberg can recommend a variety of visual aids and techniques to allow the patient to get the most out of his or her remaining vision. She also sees patients in need of routine eye exams and refractions for glasses and/or contact lens.

Joshua M. Greene, MD, FAAO

Dr. Greene’s lifelong fascination with the visual process and how it works is what led him to the field of ophthalmology. Dr. Greene decided to focus exclusively on retinal surgery because he’s always enjoyed working with his hands, and this ophthalmic specialty requires a great deal of precision and technical skill. Dr. Greene is a board certified Ophthalmologist and member of American Academy of Ophthalmology. The former director of the Department of Vitreoretinal Surgery, VA Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Greene is a Clinical Associate at the Scheie Eye Institute, where he teaches other eye doctors.
